Ulterior wishing

We're so anxious to have Karis home. Not anxious as in agitated and edgy, just longing to have our family together.

The kids and I spend a great deal of time talking about what life will be like with their little sister...such as when I'm maneuvering the grocery store with Jacob in the basket part of the cart, Anna sitting in the front, and Andrew alternately standing for a ride or pushing the cart while I steer from the front. They all want to know who will sit where. I've explained that basically, everyone will get bumped a spot. So...

Jacob thinks carting through the store will be great with Karis...he prefers to stand on the front instead of ride in the basket. It will be great for Anna...she always asks to sit in the basket where Jacob is. And for Andrew, well, he's realizing that being the oldest isn't all it's cracked up to be. He still has to walk!

But Anna has the most to gain! They've also wanted to talk about arrangements around the dinner table. Karis will get the high chair, Anna will be moved to a booster in a "big chair."

Well last night, as I was preparing dinner, Anna asked yet again (this girl gets points for persistence) if she could sit in a big chair for dinner.

"No, Anna."

"Why not?"

"Because you're still two years old."

"When my baby sister be home?"

I couldn't help it. I laughed right out loud. Yes, Anna's anxious for her baby sister...but for different reasons than the rest of us!

Counting Down!

Hard to believe we're really in the waiting phase after working so hard on our dossier!

But, the referral time-frame for infant girls through our agency is 8-11 months.

Remember our DTE (Dossier to Ethiopia) was 1/22? We're down one month already!

So, 7-10 more months to wait!
(I know I say stuff like this a lot, but wouldn't it be so amazing to have our referral for my birthday in September)?!

I wish I knew

Tonight I tucked Anna into bed, and as always, we prayed for her baby sister. Then the questions began.

"Where my baby si'ter?"

"In Ethiopia."

"Etiopie?"

"Yes, in Ethiopia."

"Why?"

"Because that's where she is right now."

"When my baby si'ter come home?"

"I don't know, Anna."

*sigh* Explaining adoption to a 2-year-old is not easy!
